New Year's 2015

What a great way to start the year with my someone special, close friends, great food, drink and of course a Buckeye Sugar Bowl win!!  Truly an amazing week in the Big Easy that included beignets, Dickie Brennan x 2 and a ghost tour through a cemetery.  While the guide could have been blindfolded with dental floss, he was a great story teller and knew a significant amount of New Orleans history.

Watching the countdown from a balcony on Bourbon Street complete with fireworks and beads tossed to the masses made for an exciting entrance into the new year.  The Buckeye game was an experience I will never forget.  It will be difficult to attend any game in the future that will compare.  The seats could not have been better! We were surrounded by former players and crazy fans and the atmosphere was electric.  Leaving the dome victorious over the SEC was a feat not many expected, but made for the most exciting New Year's day I can recall.

On to Birmingham and another bowl game, this time to watch those reptiles from Florida.  While we would have loved to experience the city, our time was short and energy was even less.  We chose nap time over travel, a rare occurrence for us.  With plenty of rain, the game still provided an exciting afternoon with the lizards getting a win.  While barbeque would have been ideal, Ruth's Chris provided the best option in the monsoon weather and sketchy neighborhoods.  As always it was beef perfection!

We were dreading the drive home, but missed our puffs terribly.  We needed a vacation from our vacation with all the travel we had squeezed into 5 days.  While time in the car can become monotonous, it was nice to have some time together.  As the busy season quickly approaches us, I have learned to cherish every moment together.  I am focused on remembering these moments throughout the year as I begin to feel overwhelmed and frustrated by our busy and conflicting schedules.  We work hard to have time like this together.  Looking forward to what 2015 has in store and where our travels take us.
